Gold jumps to its highest since early June as the Treasury doubles bond buybacks

  • Gold leapt roughly $100 in under an hour on Wednesday, trading above $4,460 an ounce for the first time since early June, after the US Treasury said it would double the size of its long-dated bond buyback operations to at least $4 billion each.
  • The 30-year Treasury yield fell to 5.19%, a two-week low, easing the pressure that had weighed on the metal.

  • OpenAI is previewing Private Safety Processing, a system that scans for patterns of misuse across customer sessions using automated agents instead of human reviewers, without retaining the underlying data.
  • The design is a direct answer to Anthropic's 30-day retention policy for its most capable models, and a sign that privacy has become a competitive weapon in enterprise AI.
